How has Kenswed helped me

Rescued from early marriage

I am Charity Yiamat

I am the 6th child out of nine children – 5 girls and 4 boys. I come from Pakase village in Magadi, Kajiado County. A remote village nestled against Lake Natron at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, Pakase, named after a popular local tree, Pagase in Maasai. Magadi is predominantly occupied by the maasai community.

My journey

I  sat for my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in 2015 and received a score of 209, allowing me to enroll in a secondary school. S tayed at home for a year, waiting to go to school. I decided to run away from home lucky enough, I was rescued. Read more

My breakthrough

I was overjoyed that I was able to join form one at Kenswed secondary school to continue my education , thanks to the sponsorship program. Kenswed did not give up on me even after having a child while in school.

My aspirations

I aspire to create awareness and avenues for girls’ education in my village and community.
